“Apparent” Skills
Talking with young entrepreneurial students at a local University the other day about the skills needed to succeed. They were clearly highly educated and had developed some technical skills that were very very impressive. We kept coming back to these skills that were, apparently, key:
PERSPECTIVE - are we able to see different aspects of an issue, problem or the character of the person we are speaking to
POSSIBILITY SPOTTING - how good are we at discovering the opportunity, is it really a problem that needs solved
STORY TELLING - am I any good at getting others to visualise my solution, understand it by making it relevant to them and in doing so create a personal brand that is memorable
QUESTIONING - do I ask questions that reveal truth and value, challenge thinking, and enable others to engage in my solution
OPERATE from ABUNDANCE (with thanks to Wali Zahid) - don’t be blinkered and narrow minded, there’s a wider picture, a broader vision an abundance of possible directions.
An interesting outcome from the conversation on these topics was how much FUN we had talking about them.
