Whenever I have been asked “what is it you do?” I have tended to joke about trying to escape from recruitment for over 35 years. My answer is partly true and I have finally escaped, but I would have missed out on so many opportunities along the way if I had escaped earlier.

The opportunity to work with a vast array of companies, across the world, and the most diverse mix of people has been wonderful. The most wonderful thing of all has been the chance to change lives along the way. That might be overselling it a bit, but the truth is you get that chance when you speak to people about their career decisions. You also pick up quite a few skills along the way. Significantly, the skills associated with creating a moment that allows for the possibility for something important to happen - clearing the way for learning, realisation, new perceptions and decision making.

I have come to realise how important those moments are and how vital are the people we meet at just the right moment - although we might not recognise them as such at the time. You see - you might just bump into someone who will change your life, if you allow the moment to occur, are willing to tell your story and listen to theirs. It needn’t take long but it might last a lifetime.

One such moment led to Diner in the Desert. A place where people meet and talk and tell their stories and enter into conversations that change lives.

The Story in the Background

The background to some of this website is orange - well, not quite.

If you look closely you will see texture, brush strokes and a variety of colour from orange to black.

It becomes Apparent that there is much more to see.

We gain a depth of understanding from a closer look, listening carefully and asking great questions. Encouraging conversations.
